The mission of the Scott County Volunteer Program is to provide opportunities for community members to share their skills, in order to enhance the variety and quality of services delivered by Scott County.

It has been stated that "volunteerism is not only beneficial to society, it is absolutely essential - in fact, it is our best hope for the future."

Scott County has developed a system for the recruitment and training of volunteers to assist the needs of many of its citizens by:

  1. Connecting volunteers with opportunities to serve;
  2. Building the capacity for effective local volunteering;
  3. Promoting the value of community service; and
  4. Developing strategic initiatives to mobilize volunteers to meet local community needs.
Volunteers gathered to participate in large-scale volunteer cleanup efforts at this former Minnesota River Valley salvage yard site. Much hard work was performed, and many new friendships formed.
